Indian law firm Trilegal has picked up four lawyers from fellow Delhi-based law firm, Hemant Sahai Associates.
Trilegal’s new additions will boost its energy disputes practice. Dispute resolution lawyer Sitesh Mukherjee joins the firm as equity partner, and is accompanied by associates Sakya Singha Chaudhuri, Vishal Anand and Megha Sen.
Trilegal managing partner, Anand Prasad, said that the firm had been scouting for a suitable group of lawyers in the last few years to build up the energy dispute practice. "We've been looking around for some time now, to take a more direct approach to the energy disputes practice. Generally, we were very focused on creating and building up the practice," he said.
Mukherjee, who largely oversaw Hemant's disputes practice, will be at the helm of the energy disputes group's expansion at Trilegal.
"He's very much complementary to our projects practice," said Prasad. "His experience, particularly his work with the court, tribunal and dealings with regulators, will put together a robust dispute practice for us."
The additions will recuperate the losses the firm experienced last October, following the departures of three partners who left to establish Phoenix Legal. The firm is also well known for its alliance with Magic Circle firm Allen & Overy.
