ATMD Bird & Bird has appointed Swee Siang Boey as a partner in its dispute resolution practice. He is the second partner to join the dispute resolution group in the last 18 months, which has doubled in size since early 2008.

Boey joins the firm from Rajah & Tann, where he was noted for his work on some of Singapore’s most high-profile cases over the last year. This included cross-border insolvencies, defamation and medical negligence actions, as well as several prominent litigation cases in the High Court.

Bird & Bird’s chief executive officer and head of the international communications group, David Kerr, said the appointment is part of a deliberate strategy to increase the firm’s capacity to deal with disputes. “We welcome Boey to our dispute resolution team in Singapore. His expertise … will be a strong addition to the wider firm as we look to develop the contentious side of our business.”
