Toshiyuki Arai has been appointed as chair of Paul Hastings Tokyo office. Arai, who has been with the firm for almost 20 years and practices predominantly in the cross-border and M&A areas, will be charged with overseeing the strategic development of the firm’s Tokyo operations.
The move is some welcome good news for the firm in Japan. 2009 saw it lose a high number of partners to rival firms and an even higher number of associates.
