Japan Big-Four firm Mori Hamada & Matsumoto has made up seven associates to partner as part of its latest promotion round, beefing up its corporate and M&A practices.
Five of the new partners specialise in M&A, something which the firm says may help it retain its lead in Japan’s M&A league tables this year. “We believe our new partners who specialise in M&A will certainly help us to continue to build on our reputation in this area,” said joint managing partner and M&A/corporate partner, Satoko Kuwabara.
Kuwabara added that while the firm did feel the effect of the financial crisis on M&A activity this year, there are positive signs of a turnaround in 2010. The firm now has 47 partners in the M&A practice, according to its website.
