ALB exclusive: K&L Gates has hired dispute resolution partners Michael Pollen and Christopher Tung as it continues to build its Asia operations.
Marine law specialist Pollen will join the firm’s Singapore office where he will link up with fellow DLA Piper alumnus and office head Kevin Murphy, who launched the firm’s Lion City office in March 2009. Pollen will join a 15-strong team in Singapore and be advising on shipbuilding, ship sale and purchase, and offshore oil & gas transactions.
Tung joins the firm’s Hong Kong office after a decade-long career spent at Mallesons. His practice focuses on infrastructure disputes across Asia, specialising in the fast-growing area of climate change and environmental legal issues.
K&L Gates has a history of using high-profile lateral recruitment in its strategy to build up its presence in Asia and the Middle East. In addition to the hires of Pollen, Tung and Murphy, the firm launched its Singapore arbitration practice with the appointment of Watson Farley lawyer Raja Bose in August last year. It also launched its Dubai office with the former head of Ashurst’s Dubai office in June.
