Morrison & Foerster has nabbed Linklaters' Tokyo office founder Tony Grundy to expand its global capital markets practice.
Grundy (pictured) will be based in the Tokyo office as partner and lead the firm's capital markets practice to advise Japanese clients on English law.
"Adding leading English, US and local capital markets lawyers in all of the key financial centres is a strategic focus for the firm," said the firm's chairman, Keith Wetmore, adding that the addition furthers the firm's ability to capitalise on the increased cross-border work between Europe and Asia, particularly in Japan.
Grundy helped found the Tokyo office of Linklaters in 1987, and for a period was its managing partner. He will now work alongside his "mentor, sparring partner and long-time friend", Ito & Mitomi's (a registered associated office of Morrison & Foerster) Tokyo managing partner, Fuyuo Mitomi.
