Niche construction outfit ChanTan will cease to exist next year when the three directors merge their practices into TSMP Law Corporation.
Boutique corporate and commercial firm TSMP will welcome ChanTan directors Raymond Chan, George Tan and Monica Neo into the fold officially on 1 January.
"The lawyers in ChanTan will join TSMP Law Corporation as directors and we will continue to be known as TSMP Law Corporation," said TSMP's joint managing director Thio Shen Yi.
All three directors are building and construction lawyers and arbitrators, with Raymond Chan the current president of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators.
The decision to merge was based on the "improving sentiment" in the construction and real estate development industry, as well as a desire to take the new venture closer to a full-service firm.
The positive outlook on Singapore's construction scene can be attributed to the advent of the proposed integrated resorts, new downtown financial centre, public-private partnering, and build-operate-transfer/build-own-operate projects, said the firm.
"This merger will enable us to provide our clients with a more comprehensive suite of specialised legal services," said Tan.
