Offshore law firm Ogier has overhauled its management structure, appointing two new executives to its board.
Former Jersey office managing partner Nick Kershaw will take the helm as the firm's group chief executive officer, while Clive Chaplin, also a partner from the Jersey office, has been appointed non-executive group chairman.
The firm's Hong Kong office will add a new associate to the finance practice. Takesh Nakayama, previously with Milbank Tweed in Tokyo, will advise clients on Japanese business matters relating to capital markets and corporate transactions.
Hong Kong partner Duncan Smith said Nakayama's appointment builds on the firm's strategy. "Our strategy for building out our Japanese business is now well advanced and Takesh will be a key part of executing that plan. His Japan market experience, both at a quality global law firm and in-house at Mitsubishi Corporation, is tremendously useful for our clients."
Kershaw said that the firm has doubled in size over the past five years, now counting over 850 professional and support staff in its network. In October last year, the firm announced the opening of new offices in Tokyo and Bahrain.
