Convenience store operator 7-Eleven Stores has purchased 295 service stations/ convenience stores from Mobil under the guidance of Minter Ellison, Blake Dawson and Middletons. Blakes and Middletons acted for Mobil, while Minters acted for 7-11. The lead lawyer for Minters was Marcus Best, while the lead lawyers for Blake Dawson were Peter Stirling, Jonathan Ross, Tim Washington.
The deal has an interesting history for these firms. Mobil had previously attempted to sell the outlets to Caltex, a deal opposed by the ACCC and Blake Dawson advised on that transaction. Minters has also had previous experience in a similar transaction when it advised Coles Myer on a commercial alliance with Shell.
