WongPartnership, HHP, LBS, Latham, Milbank act on landmark Adaro energy loan

A subsidiary of the second largest coal producer of Indonesia, Adaro Energy has inked a US$400m senior loan facility from a syndicate of 12 banks to refinance existing debts and capital expenditures. The loan secured has a maturity period of seven years – the longest tenor of any major financing to date in the Indonesian market.

Milestone US$2.8bn LNG deal steams ahead; Asia’s energy juggernauts

A milestone LNG project between the world’s largest LNG buyer, Kogas; Japan’s largest trading house, Mitsubishi Corporation; and Indonesia’s largest private sector energy company, Medco Energi Internasional, marks the first-ever joint venture partnership between Korea, Japan and Indonesia on an LNG project. Hogan Lovells; Widyawan & Partners; Allen & Overy, Herbert Smith and its Indonesian ally, Hiswara, Bujamin & Tanjung (HBT), have all played roles on the deal which itself was six years the making.

Jones Day brings X'mas cheer to 36 new partners

US-based firm Jones Day has promoted 36 lawyers to its global partnership this week, a third of whom are in offices outside the US and a quarter of whom are female. Those promoted include Joe Bauerschmidt in Singapore, John Lin in Taipei and Sebastien Evrard and Ian Lian both in Beijing.

Minters pulls off triple-partner lateral with Jones Day hires

Australian firm Minter Ellison has significantly increased its partner ranks in Hong Kong with a triple partner lateral hire from US firm Jones Day. Barbara Mok, Anne Ko and Katherine U, all capital markets and M&A lawyers, will join the firm in the new year increasing the total number of partners in its Hong Kong office to nine.
