Andrew Chan has taken on the role of senior partner in Hong Kong at shipping law firm Ince & Co, after the retirement of former senior partner Simon Latham at the end of June.
The role effectively makes Chan the senior partner in the Asian region for the firm, which does not have an official designated regional head. His practice specialises in maritime and trade-related work, both contentious and non-contentious. Latham, who was a partner with the firm from 1987 and took on the senior partnership between 1992 and 2006, retains a role as a consultant with the firm.
The firm has also elected four new partners in recent months, three of whom are based in Asia. The new partners in the region are Harry Hirst, based in Hong Kong, Paul Ho, resident in Shanghai, and Chris Grieveson in Singapore.
The news comes on the back of the opening of the firm's new Dubai office this year, in partnership with prominent local firm Al Jallaff.
