Herbert Geer has appointed Amanda Johns, formerly in-house counsel at property development group Austexx, as a partner in the planning, government, infrastructure and environment team.
This appointment follows the firm’s recent raid on Holding Redlich’s projects and construction partner St. John Frawley along with special counsel Catherine Bell and senior associate Kane Barrett. The firm also lured corporate partner Glen Selikowitz from McCabe Terrill Lawyers.
Johns has more than 20 years’ experience in the property development field, having been a special counsel at Minter Ellison prior to her role at Austexx. In 2003 she was appointed as a member of the Heritage Council, where she is currently Chair of the Planning and Protocols Committee, Chair of the Religious Places Committee, and a member of the Registrations Committee and Chair of the Permit Appeals Committee.
“Amanda is a well-credentialed planning lawyer who has had exposure to a wide range of property development matters gained in her roles as In-house Counsel, in private practice and through her involvement with organizations such as the Heritage Council. She has acted for developers, government authorities, objectors and local councils,” said Bill Fazio, Herbert Geer managing partner. Johns will be based in the firm’s Melbourne office.
