What do you do when your chief rainmaker leaves the firm? That's the scenario at the Taiwan and Silicon Valley offices of Akin Gump following the departure of patent litigator Yitai Hu.  Hu, who was instrumental in setting up both offices three  years ago, has brought in work from major clients such as RealTek Semiconductor Corp. and  Sunplus Technology Co. The firm does not believe that the clients will stay on board and has already pulled the plug on the Taiwan operation and is reviewing the viability of its Silicon Valley office.
