US-based firm Fullbright & Jaworski has made a lateral hire and relocated two of its lawyers to the Gulf region in an effort to bolster its burgeoning dispute resolution practice.
Philip Punwar, who comes from Al Tamimi & Company, will join the firm's Dubai office as a partner, while partner Jonathan Sutcliffe and associate Shea Haass will move to Dubai from the firm's London and Dallas offices respectively.
In addition to having commercial arbitration experience as both an arbitrator and counsel, the English-admitted Punwar has appeared before both the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Court of First Instance and the DIFC Court of Appeal where he has acted on matters ranging from energy to construction disputes.
Sutcliffe boasts similar experience, acting for clients on a diverse range of international commercial arbitration, ADR and litigation matters in the construction, energy, defence, insurance and international joint venture sectors and on investor-state disputes.
These appointments bring the number of fee-earners in the firm's Dubai office to12, seven of which are partners.
