Norton Rose has secured the services of senior energy lawyer Prashanth Sabeshan, who will it join its Singapore office as an of counsel.
Formerly of Freehills in Melbourne and a partner at Indian firm Amarchand & Mangaldas, the Indian-admitted Sabeshan has extensive experience advising on energy and infrastructure projects in the subcontinent and throughout the Asian region.
After having been granted a qualifying foreign law practice (QFLP) license by the Singapore government allowing it to practice Singapore law in certain areas Norton Rose intends to bolster its already strong India-related practice, and Sabehsan's appointment is also timely in this regard.
"India is very important to our Singapore practice, and Prashanth brings an in-depth knowledge of Indian energy and infrastructure deals - he will play an important role in the continued growth of our business in Asia," said Jeff Smith, a Singapore-based partner in the firm's energy practice.
