Ince & Co launches first UK maritime formal law alliance in Singapore

Shipping specialist law firm Ince & Co has today launched Ince Law Alliance, a formal law alliance (FLA) with a newly-formed local entity, Incisive Law – to target English and Singapore advisory work in the maritime sector. Ince & Co will only be the second foreign firm to enter into such an alliance in Singapore after Wikborg Rein’s formation of Pan Asia Law Corporation in 2008. It is also the first English maritime firm to take this step.

Nabarro hires first local partner for nascent Singapore practice

One of Singapore’s most recent Foreign Law Practice (FLP) entrants, Nabarro, has made its first local partner hire this week – Norton Rose foreign legal counsel Glenn Cheng – who has laterally moved to help build the firm’s nascent construction and arbitration practice.

Japan’s largest firm opens first office in Vietnam

Nishimura & Asahi, the largest of Japan’s “Big Four” law firms, has launched its first representative office in Southeast Asia. The new office in Ho Chi Minh will be the firm’s second overseas venture, after its first international office was launched in Beijing only three months ago.

Zhong Lun opens Hong Kong office

Three years after King & Wood and Jun He opened their Hong Kong offices, Zhong Lun, another top-tier player in the mainland, has finally planted its flag in Hong Kong. The new Hong Kong office operates in association with local Hong Kong firm Roger Ho & Co.
