Deacons and Baker & McKenzie have been voted the best domestic and international law firms to work for in Hong Kong, according to ALB’s Employer of Choice 2010 survey.
The online survey was conducted between December 2009 and February 2010 among more than 20,000 lawyers in the Asia-Pacific and Gulf regions.
Deacons, the largest of the domestic firms in Hong Kong, finished well ahead of the pack in the SAR ostensibly on the back of its strong showing in the ‘quality of partners to work for’ and ‘compensation and benefits’ categories. Haldanes polled strongly in the ‘quality of work’ category to take second place while Wilkinson & Grist followed in third place.
Baker & McKenzie was the pick of the international law firms in Hong Kong. The firm gained some 30% more votes than its nearest rival, Herbert Smith, and polled very strongly in the ‘work/life balance’ and ‘partnership prospects’ categories. Meanwhile Herbert Smith – which took out the lead in Singapore’s international category – and Clifford Chance both held their own in the ‘compensation and benefits’ categories, the latter claiming a higher number of votes in the ‘firm reputation’ stakes.
