Atsumi & Partners continued to up its headcount in February, including the addition of yet another foreign attorney as it seeks international practice growth.
Patrick Smith, formerly a senior associate with
Lovells in Tokyo, has joined the firm as a senior associate, and has been charged with establishing an English law international capital markets group for the local firm. Smith has more than 10 years experience as a capital markets lawyer in London, Tokyo and Australia.
The firm has also recruited local partner Kazutomo Ueyama, who was formerly with Kimura, Kakuta and Ueyama Law Office, and who sports a very general practice covering corporate law, insurance, real estate, litigation and civil matters.
At the end of last year, general corporate lawyer Daniel Hounslow, who until recently was up for partner at
Clifford Chance, also joined A&P.
