About our Speakers
Matthew I Bachrack, Senior Attorney, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP
Matthew Bachrack focuses on antitrust counseling, particularly with respect to the United States and the developing antitrust regimes in Asia, and civil antitrust litigation. He also has extensive experience with multi-jurisdictional pre-merger filings. Matthew has published articles and spoken regarding the development of China’s competition regime. In addition, he has worked with the ABA’s Sections of Antitrust Law and International Law that provide comments to China’s antitrust agencies regarding draft rules and guidelines under China’s Anti-Monopoly Law. Matthew joined the firm in 2001 and became a senior attorney in 2008. From 2001 to 2009, he was resident in the Washington, D.C. office. He received a J.D. degree with High Honors from George Washington University Law School in 2001.
Marc Waha, Partner, Norton Rose
Marc Waha is a partner in Norton Rose’s Asia Competition Team, based in Hong Kong. He also spends a significant amount of time in Europe. Marc advises international companies on emerging antitrust regimes in East Asia, and Asian companies on global competition compliance issues, multi-jurisdictional merger filings and international cartel investigations. He has represented US, European and Asian clients active in a number of industrial sectors. His cartel work experience spans the transport, food, elevator, beverage, plasterboard, and chemicals industries. Marc regularly speaks at conferences on competition law issues in Asia. He and the Norton Rose team have recently been involved in training programmes for Asian competition regulators. Marc is a member of the Bar in Brussels and New York. He is a registered foreign lawyer in Hong Kong.
